Oakbrook’s Brief History
Oakbrook Evangelical Free Church was born out of spiritual need and a foundation of prayer. Rev. Art Volkmann and the Trinity Free Church congregation in Ripon saw the need for an Evangelical Free Church in Oshkosh.
Beginning of Oakbrook
In the summer of 1990 Ray Olson assisted the fledgling group. In the fall of 1993, Ed Riddick moved to the Oshkosh area as a pioneer church planter. With the support of friends the church planting efforts began. In 1996, the Oshkosh Christian School graciously opened their doors.
New Property
While much prayer and many efforts failed to find building property west of Hwy 41, one of the leaders decided to write all landowners west of Hwy 41 and received only one response. One option surely makes discerning the Lord’s will a little easier. Oakbrook then purchased the property and paid it off in March of 2006.
